As the volunteers are not office-based, it is important they have a secure and confidential way to contact their clients - these phones provide just that. We are very grateful to Airtel Vodafone for their generous donation!

On Friday, 17 June, Victim Support Jersey hosted the second Annual Inter-Island Conference at the Royal Yacht Hotel. Over 80 delegates attended for the half-day event - some had travelled from Guernsey, the Isle of Man and even from Scotland to be here.
The Bailiff of Jersey, Mr Michael Birt (Patron of Victim Support Jersey) opened the conference for us and highlighted the importance of the work we do within the Criminal Justice System. This was followed by a presentation from Mr Brian Heath, vice-chairman of Victim Support Jersey, who spoke of our role supporting people affected by the Haute de la Garenne Enquiry. Chantelle Rose, Restorative Justice Officer, took to the stage to give an insight into her work with victims of crime and the offenders who commit the crimes against them. Finally, Pat Moffatt, from the Mankind Inatiative, shared her insights into male domestic abuse and agreed it is a subject which needs more attention and more resources.
The presentations by all three speakers are available here.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the speakers, and to Mr Philip Le Brocq, who was compere for the morning and did a wonderful job helping the whole event go smoothly. We would also like to thank the Lloyds TSB Foundation for the Channel Islands and the Jersey Domestic Violence Forum who provided some sponsopship for the event. We are delighted so many people supported us, in both their attendence at the Conference and in many other ways.
Following the conference on Friday, we hosted a Gala Dinner in the evening to celebrate the sucess of the conference and promote the work of Victim Support Jersey to attendees. A truly excellent evening was had by all - over 120 people attended, and we are very grateful for everyone's support. We had three brilliant singers - Zoe, Ashley and Melody, and an excellent band - the Grumpy Old Men, who played some classic dancing songs, much to the delight of the guests. We would like to pass our thanks to them, and also to the following people, who helped the night to go smoothly!
And finally, to everyone who generously donated a raffle or auction prize - the table was bowed under the weight of them all! Airtel Vodafone, Jersey War Tunnells, St Catherine's Sailing Club, The Radisson Hotel, Caring Hands, Randalls (The Goose and the Tenby), Kirsa at Pure Skin, Corinne Kane, Margaret Correia, Kate Taylor and Operation Goodwill.
Photo's will be uploaded to Facebook in the next few days, be sure to have a look! Thank you again to everyone who came and to everyone who helped make the night such a sucess.
